No, but I was never baptized. I believe that my parents did receive many "shepherding calls" though and I'm sure they were partially related to my absence from meetings and eventually going off to college.

Were you Stalked or Chased After Once you Exited the JW's by Elders ?
by flipper ini tried to fade off the map by moving 30 miles initially in 2004 after i exited in late 2003 .
the first several years they didn't bother me.
i ran into a elder from my former congregation in late 2005 in an antique store - he tried telling me i was wrong for stopping attending meetings.

Were you suprised at how little the "world" knows about JW's
by donny ini was a jehovah's witness for 10 long years and during that time i developed the opinion that most of the world knew what we believed, but chose to ignore it and go about doing their own thing.
then in the almost 18 years i have been out, i have come to understand that the outside world knows very little about jw's.
other than they don't take blood transfusions and do not celebrate holidays, most people have no idea what we believe and only think of them as another offbeat religion among many.. did anyone else think that the jw religion was more known than it actually is?.

I agree with Outlaw but I was surprised by this when I first left the JWs. Those assemblies and conventions had me convinced otherwise.

Loneliness and the day I graduated from High School
by laverite inmany of us have suffered in so many ways as a result of the wtbts.
i know intense pain, fear and loneliness as a direct result of the wtbts.

Laverite, My experiences were not exactly the same as yours but there are a lot of similarities. I also came on the internet 2 years ago looking for some kind of support group. It was all triggered by my mother's illness and death. It brought up so many old emotions and questions in my mind about why I had been raised in this cult and why it had destroyed my family.
I have never had that "forever family" either. But, like you, I do have the family that I have created and I have my in-law relatives. And that is a long way from nobody.
I take pride in that I have done a better job of creating unconditional bonds with my children than my parents did.

by Lozhasleft inanother thread has set me off ...the one about anniversaries ...and i read an extract that blondie posted on there....suddenly i am soooo bl**dy furious...so indignant!!!!.
why did we allow a bunch of men to dictate to us not only what we believed, but even how we parented our kids, and then even how we spent our free time?????
how could we allow this stuff?????.

How did you personally endure the torture during the DC?
by whatistruth inmy assembly was a couple of weeks ago and lets just say the only way i could possibly get through that b.s was by having some "funny stuff" before the sessions, then to my car at lunch.
pretty much slept the days away.
my wife would constintaly ask me what was wrong with me, i said i was feeling really sick.

Brizzy, I'm sorry about the way that your mother treated you. Your mother was wrong and it's not your fault. At 12, a child is not really ready to make the decision about their commitment to a religion. A 12 year old would just do what the adults in their life expected them to do.

Discussion on the way out of convention
by Mickey mouse insunday evening there were a group of sisters talking on their walk back to the carpark.
"so if the generation just means that your life overlapped with people who were around in 1914, couldn't that just go on forever?".
""i guess...." (looked at each other confused, then at me as i walked past).. to which i said: "oh yes, remember the days when the generation was a simple 70 years from 1914?".

What Unusual Watchtower Suggestions Do You Recall?
by laverite intoday, i was on yahoo and clicked on link for "unusual ways" to stay cool this summer.
among the suggestions are putting your sheets in the freezer for one to two hours before bedtime and using an organic cotton pillow (is an organic cotton pillow cooler than 100% cotton regular pillow?

You are right, wasblind. I was a born-in and everyone of these stories is completely believable.
